Derek & Lindsay's Pet Pages

Our first rat Crunchie joined our family in 1993.  We don't quite know why we thought of getting a pet rat, it just sort of came to us.  Life with Crunchie was amazing and our little friends that have followed, well we have loved them all.  The complexities of a rats personality has taught us we will never know enough, but the best we can offer them is love, attention and food.

For more information and pictures on our rattie family check out Rattie Rescue which is dedicated to all our RSPCA rats.  Or if you're looking for advice about rats check out my other site Rat Care, which is full of rattie hints and tips I've learnt over the years.

These guys are full of energy and mischief.  They may be happy to snooze away the hours in their home, but get them out and they turn into bundles of craziness.  Just what having ratties is all about, chaos.

Our old guy Toffee was not happy on his own after the loss of his two brothers.  So, we popped down our local RSPCA and came back with two cuddly friends for him.  Now we have three matching black hooded rats.  It's as though they were made for each other.

While at the RSPCA collecting our two boys, Pickle & Tomato, this little girl ended up joining out family.  Things were a bit confused at first, she was supposed to be a boy, but now we are all settled and happy, we can't imagine a home without Petal.

08/06 - 02/08

Two little boys who are as opposite in temperament as they are in colour.  These sweet little boys kindly welcomed Minty into their home, after the sad loss of his brother, Rummy.

12/07

These two boys came to us from the RSPCA. Sadly little Rummy was very poorly and was only with us for one short week.  Our big guy Minty now lives with our other boys Toffee and Carmel.

10/04 - 08/06

There was space in our home and lives for some more ratties.  So instead of a pet shop we went to our local Wood Green Animal shelter and got four adorable rats.  Two little girls and two cuddly boys, who have been neutered so they can all live together happily.

06/03 - 08/05

A quartet of boys.  One of those trips down the pet shop for some supplies which got out of hand.  Oh well three of them were free.

10/02 - 08/04

Two little pet shop rats and another that came from down the woods!  Find out about this troublesome trio and what they got up to when no one was watching.
