Baby Crumble following Dusty & Smarty

It was a very hot June day and we popped into the pet shop for a little look. Crumble was all alone, hot and very cute, so in a box he went and home he came!

We already had two rats, Dusty and Smarty but they were old chaps and were not interested in the new arrival. So off we went on a trip to find Crumble a friend (does it ever end?) Crumble was living up to his name with his patchy fur and wrinkly skin, so it was only fitting that his sleek new companion should be called Silky.

Misty, Smarty & Dusty

Misty was our second little rattie friend, we hadn’t really planned to get anymore rats but you do miss them. Misty was the most beautiful rat we had ever seen. He wasn’t a tiny baby and he was all alone in the pet shop, how could we resist?

We wanted a friend for Misty but all we could find were tiny babies. So rather than get another lone rat and risk them not getting on, we got a pair (good thinking). Dusty and Smarty were the only boys out of a litter of ten. They were very tiny when we got them and Misty was not impressed. Misty was big and cuddly and the new arrivals were small and never stopped, believe me they drove me mad. Who knows what poor Misty thought of them.

Crunchie the very first rat we ever had. We were living in a flat (no pets allowed) and we love having little animal friends around us, so we decided to get a rat, like you do. After buying a book on rats we decided we were ready. We found Crunchie in a small local pet shop, he was sitting in the corner of a tank looking a bit shy.
