Hello, we are Derek and Lindsay and we live in Suffolk, England. Over the years we have managed to fill our home with a variety of animal friends, including bunnies, cats, gerbils, guinea pigs and far too many rats.

Lindsay launched this website in 2001 and back then it was solely dedicated to our pets. In February of 2009 we re-launched the site in the format you see now. As well as continuing to feature ongoing updates about our pets, we have added a selection of short stories.

Goodbye to our bossy girl Sugar

Goodbye to our bossy girl Sugar

08 February 2010 by Lindsay

Our much loved little girl, Sugar passed away quietly yesterday.  Over the past week she had become gradually weaker and weaker, but still enjoying lots of baby food, until her appetite dropped off completely and she was struggling to walk.  I moved her from the cage she shares with her sisters ...

Not a good day (part two)

Not a good day (part two)

20 January 2010 by Lindsay

Daisy’s lump had gotten to a size where it was beginning to cause her problems.  It was affecting the mobility of her arm, if she jumped down off something she couldn’t bring her left arm forward and would land on her face or the lump itself.  The lump itself was also starting to ...

Not a good day (part one)

Not a good day (part one)

20 January 2010 by Lindsay

When we got up last Friday we already knew it was going to be a bad day as we had made the horrible decision to have our sweet little girl Daisy put to sleep.  Her appointment was at 2.30 that afternoon, so we weren’t in the best of moods, but when we went into our dining room, where our boys ...

Ageing gracefully

Ageing gracefully

10 January 2010 by Lindsay

Our sweet, and sometimes bossy, girl Sugar is beginning to slow down quite a bit and is a little unsteady on her feet.  We are assuming it is old age, as she wasn’t a young girl when she joined our family over a year ago. It is both a bit sad to know she is getting old, but at the same ...

A new friend for Fawn

A new friend for Fawn

10 January 2010 by Lindsay

After the death of his brother, Custard, our other cat, Treacle had started coming upstairs more and of course Fawn was waiting for him.  Fawn really loved spending time with Custard and had missed him terribly when he died, so it’s been great for Fawn to find a new feline friend. Treacle ...

A much needed update about Berry

A much needed update about Berry

03 January 2010 by Lindsay

I have been a bit remiss in updating about Berry since he first joined our family.  It’s hard to believe he has been with us over two years now and, I’m pleased to say, is still going strong. Things have changed a lot in our relationship with Berry since we first got him.  He is still ...

Daisy has a lump

Daisy has a lump

02 January 2010 by Lindsay

This is a very hard update to make, while Daisy is fine and healthy she has a lump and unfortunately because of its location we’ve decided not to have it removed.  We first noticed a pea-sized lump on Daisy’s neck not long after Pearl died.  It was hard enough finding a lump on ...

Concerns for Conker

Concerns for Conker

31 December 2009 by Lindsay

Since he joined our family Conker has been doing really well settling in, getting used to Derek and I and just learning what fun it is to come out and have a run-around.  He’s a really lovely boy, though he did develop one naughty habit of nipping Derek’s feet while he was out ...

Fern's Snow Adventures

Fern's Snow Adventures

26 December 2009 by Lindsay

The story ‘First Snow‘ was inspired by Fern and her first encounter with snow, although the snowfall Fern experienced at the time was only a very light dusting and nothing at all like the snowfall that Fifi encountered in the story.  All that changed this past week when Fern really did ...

Our little girl Peach has died

Our little girl Peach has died

22 December 2009 by Lindsay

Peach was very much a little live wire, always running around and bouncing, despite all the health problems that have plagued her most of her short life.  Sadly in the space of two days Peach’s condition deteriorated and she passed away.  It was such a shock, one day she was bouncing ...

Have you ever thought about....

Designer Litter Boxes

Did you know that there are designer litter boxes our there for you and your cat?

Whether you are buying a cat loo for your kitten, a house cat or because your outdoor cat is no longer able to go outside. Whatever your reasons, cat litter boxes are an important part of caring for you cat. Cats can be fussy about using a cat loo, and what they were happy to use as a kitten may not be appealing to them if they need access to a litter box later in their lives.

Basic open plastic trays can be a messy (the litter get easily kicked out) and doesn't provide any privacy for your cat. They also don't do anything to prevent odours. Large cover plastic cat loos can prevent cat litter being kicked out, and even help mask odours, while providing your cat privacy. Unfortunately this type of cat litter box can be large and ugly, and may look unsightly in your home, especially for long term use.

When looking for a litter box for you cat, consider designer litter boxes for a practical, attractive and long-term solution when caring for your cat.
